Following on from yesterdays blog

Yes, your friends are trying to hold you back, but it’s not what you think. In my last blog I wrote about the concept of show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.

A common problem when you have ambition, is it doesn’t match that of your social circle. The echo chamber you surround yourself with doesn’t repeat what you need to hear. Instead you’re hearing people question you, making judgments about you.

Let this sink in!

You’ve been listening to people who have probably achieved nothing and will probably achieve nothing their whole life. Can you imagine how scared they are you might leave them behind if you step out of THEIR comfort zone and set yourself your own comfort zone.

What better way of keeping you in ear shot than criticizing you and making sure you know your place, the place they have selected for you. The one which keeps you in sight of their goals.

A 9-5 paycheck to paycheck life, the one they’re comfortable with.

To be clear, your friends are not bad people, but they are afraid. If you do well, you’ll leave them behind. Not because you don’t love them, but because your habits will change and your outlook on life will be different.

Your friends do love you, but they don’t want to put the effort in. They’ve found their place, that’s why they don’t drive forward, that’s why they’re not chasing dreams.

You can’t be a square peg in a round hole for the rest of your life. You’ve got set out your own road map, find the path which is comfortable for you, and walk it.

And it isn’t always easy, there is most likely some hardship along the way, but that’s what separates you from those friends. They’re afraid of what that might mean. Their comfort zone is lazy boy recliner chair, a plate of nachos, a tub of ice cream and a Netflix binge.

But if you want to one day own the company who makes the chair, makes the nachos, makes the ice cream, makes the TV shows. You’ll never be the end user.

No one knows what really lies outside of their comfort zone, but I can tell you this. Those that travel past it’s boundaries, never turn back, and that should tell you everything you need to know.
